She provided GIS technical guidance to the Gulf of Maine Dynamic Atlas, the data and mapping portal for the Gulf of Maine Biogeographic Information System (GMBIS). As part of a National Science Foundation project she developed a comprehensive set of GIS curriculum materials for the Maine GIS Education Consortium – a consortium of six University of Maine campuses. Rosemary has the experience to clearly communicate how GIS can be used for real world solutions. Kirsten Boettcher, Principal Research ConsultantKirsten Boettcher, co-founder and principle research consultant for Orbis, combines GIS experience with a long-held interest in history. Her areas of expertise include integration of historical data into GIS databases, as well as historical research. Kirsten holds a Master’s degree in American and New England Studies, and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography-Anthropology, both from the University of Southern Maine. Her thesis, “What’s in a Place Name: Geographic Information Science and its use in Investigating Cultural Landscapes and the Forgotten History of Scotch Hill, Westbrook, ME, 1885-1903” demonstrates the utility of using GIS to archive historical data, as well as to analyze and present research. |
